Retirement Living

Nehemiah is a specialist housing and support provider focusing on elders from an African Caribbean background, but we house and support older people from all communities including Irish and Asian elders and older people with a European background.

About our retirement Living Schemes

If you are over 55 and looking for a property with some support, then one of our retirement living schemes could be just what you need. You have your own high quality accommodation and the privacy that you would expect, but in a safe and secure environment.

As part of this service, we have 7 supported housing schemes within the West Midlands and approx 50 properties that are classed as category one supported accommodation.

Two of the retirement living schemes are also Extra Care Schemes, which provide all the facilities of our retirement living schemes, but have a team of carers who can provide Extra Care to residents who need it.

We have leaflets that contain more information about our retirement living schemes. Take a look here to read our Retirement Living Standards and what you can expect from your Retirement Scheme Manager.

What Does Our Retirement Living Schemes Offer?

You’ll have a self-contained apartment that has a lounge, kitchen, bathroom (some have walk in showers and others have baths) and at least one bedroom. Each scheme has shared facilities for you to enjoy, such as a communal lounge, garden, laundry room and even a hairdressing salon in some schemes.

All our retirement living schemes have a dedicated Scheme Manager. Our Scheme Managers are on site 5 days a week Monday to Friday, to support you and provide help and assistance if you need it.  This is coupled with a 24 hour back up service provided by our emergency call alarm, so help is available at any time, day or night.

As our retirement living schemes are situated in the heart of communities, you can still be close to friends and family.

Where are our retirement schemes?

Choices about housing become even more important as we get older as it makes such a difference to the way you feel about yourself and life in general.  Our retirement living schemes are very different to the idea many people have of what housing for older people is like.  Active, independent people live in retirement living schemes like ours.  We would love to show you what we mean.  Do get in touch with the scheme manager at any of our housing schemes and arrange to have a look round and see for yourself.
